A flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. Short video lectures are viewed by students at home before the class session, while in-class time is devoted to exercises, projects, or discussions. We hope “The Flipped Classroom” allows us more class time to provide individualized instruction that caters to each child’s needs.
We will be experimenting with the Flipped Classroom this year. Two to three nights a week, students will be assigned a 10-15 minute teacher-created video to watch at home. As students watch, they will be prompted to stop the video in order to record notes or practice math exercises. The math videos will be posted online. If students are unable to watch the video online, they will need to watch the video during morning work from 8:45-9:15. Other arrangements can be made (using a flashdrive, etc.) if online streaming at home is a concern. Please just let us know, and we will ensure your child has access to the math videos. |
